Once he graduates to Phase III, he is prepared to get a part-time job/or reenroll in school, and his decisions regarding his programming are aligned with his long-term goals. Every client’s daily and weekly schedule is different, being designed by case managers and clients collaboratively. The focus of Phase III is meant for clients to create their program while we hold them accountable to their word. This allows us to not become the enemy, but rather mentors. It is also during this phase where independence begins with our clients getting to show up in their own lives. All too many times, we put ourselves in a position which resulted in those decisions being made for us. Our goal is to empower clients to find their own voice and begin making decisions for themselves. Self-esteem is built on doing estimable acts.

The requirement for this phase is simple by design: for him to be a man of his word. Day to day, that means keeping his commitments, showing up for his life, taking care of himself, and pursuing his goals. During this phase III, our case managers help him with budgeting, time management, support, life skills, and whatever else he needs while performing his program. It is important to note that his program during this phase can change at any time. For instance, if he wishes to obtain a different job, his case manager and other BH staff will be there to help him navigate that process and reorient his goals.

He will continue seeing a therapist weekly (or as needed) and will also see our Medical Director monthly (or more, if needed). Once he has been in Phase III for the appropriate amount of time and the goals and benchmarks have been met, he then qualifies to step down to Phase IV, the final phase of the program.
